PT Cruiser Window Regulator: Replacement Guide
"Efficient Window Regulator Replacement: Chrysler PT Cruiser Guide"
Hello there! In today's quick article, I'll walk you through the process of removing and replacing a window on a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Let's dive right in.
How to Repair a Window Regulator on a Chrysler PT Cruiser
To begin, let's take off the door panel. Look for several screws that need removal:
- Start with the screws towards the center of the door panel. There's one here, another right underneath, and one more in that area.
- Use a Philips head screwdriver for the door handle screw, and a twenty-seven millimeter Torx bit for the door handle screws.
- Proceed to remove additional Philips head screws around the circumference of the panel.
Once the screws are out, carefully start prying off the door panel. It's secured with plastic clips. Make sure to gently tug and release these clips.
As you remove the panel, you'll encounter a connecting rod that links the door handle to the locking mechanism. There's also an electrical connector that needs disconnecting. To remove the rod, press down on the plastic tab, and pull the rod free.
How to Remove the Window Regulator and Motor
- Disconnect the electric connector. A small screwdriver can be useful here.
- Remove the support bracket using a ten-millimeter socket.
- Move the plastic shield out of the way to access the nuts holding the regulator and motor.
To proceed with removing the glass:
- Take out the two 10-millimeter bolts holding the glass to the regulator.
- Slide the glass up and tape it in place to give you access.
- Disconnect the motor by releasing the safety tab and pressing in on the connector.
To remove the regulator and motor as a single unit:
- Push the motor through and disconnect it.
- Unscrew the bolts and nuts holding the regulator and motor assembly.
- Remove the entire unit by carefully maneuvering it through the designated openings.
For installation:
- Acquire a replacement from your local auto store.
- Reassemble by following the reverse steps of removal.
